A boyfriend who agreed to an open relationship with his Naval officer girlfriend shot her and her new lover dead inside their home outside San Diego after flying into a jealous rage, prosecutors said.

Ryan Wesley Proffitt, 27, is accused of murdering his girlfriend Courtney Chandler, 28, and Nicholas McClure, 27, a homeless man Chandler had moved into the couple’s home in a military housing complex in Ramona.

Profitt had allegedly grown increasingly jealous of Chandler and McClure dating after he agreed to an open relationship with the Navy sailor, according to prosecutors in the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.

Proffitt is accused of gunning both Chandler and McClure down on Monday, dialing 911 after the alleged slaying to say he he had been involved in a “lovers quarrel,” Fox 5 San Diego reported.

Chandler, who prosecutors described as homeless, had been living in the couple’s home for about a week and a half before the alleged killings.

Prosecutors say Profitt planned the murders, loading a firearm and concealing it as he confronted Chandler and McClure about their relationship. The sailor appeared to be aware that her boyfriend had a gun, sending a text message to a friend about it, according to prosecutors.

McClure charged at Profitt during a confrontation, with Proffitt firing at him three times, authorities said. He then turned the gun on Chandler.

After Proffitt called 911, police found him sitting on the steps at the military complex drinking a beer.

Profitt pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder Thursday and is being held without bail.

A GoFundMe campaing launched for Chandler described the Naval officers as a “sister, daughter, granddaughter, and so much more.”

“She was tragically murdered in her apartment in Ramona, California, while on deployment in San Diego with the Navy, alongside another person,” it read.

“Courtney was the life of the party and loved fishing, the outdoors, hunting, the military, and anime. She always insisted on making the turkey for Thanksgiving, and her birthday is coming up—she would have been 29 on July 24. Her loss has shattered our family, and we are doing everything we can to honor her memory while navigating unimaginable grief.”

McClure’s mother told Fox 5 that he was from Kentucky and moved to California to take automotive classes as he worked to “find his way.”

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
