An annual American tradition unlike any other has arrived.
With Fourth of July weekend comes the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, one of the ultimate events in competitive eating — and for the United States' 250th birthday in July 2026, there's no better way to celebrate.
Of course, by now, even the most casual of sports and competitive eating fans know the name Joey Chestnut, the 16-time Mustard Belt winner who annually puts other hot dog eaters to shame by dominating the men's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. In 2025, he put down 70.5 hot dogs and buns, his first contest back following a year-long ban for signing a sponsorship deal with a vegan food produce.
The 42-year-old Chestnut will be the overwhelming favorite to consume the most hot dogs on the 2026 stage as well. In the women's competition, 11-time champion Miki Sudo will once again be in action as a significant favorite, while other notable 2026 contestants include Patrick Bertoletti, Geoffrey Esper, James Webb and Nick Wehry.
The Sporting News is tracking the latest from Coney Island, where an American tradition is underway: the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. Follow along with the 2026 results below.
