She then shared, "somehow every year without fail I become extremely emotional around my birthday," before adding that she is reviewing her life inside her head.

“When I was younger I used to think that I was always falling behind, my yearly life reviews would make me feel like everything I had accomplished wasn’t good enough and I had to keep doing more.”

As Osaka enters her last year of her 20s, she is learning about how she evaluates herself.

“As I’m nearing the end of my 20’s I’ve started to understand that I had actually acquired the tools to escape this figurative ‘cage’ that I have felt trapped in a long time ago.”

Osaka has accomplished a lot in her career, winning four Grand Slam championships, seven career WTA singles titles, competing at the 2020 Tokyo Games, and was a part of the Opening Ceremony as she lit the Olympic cauldron, to name a few. She reflected on her "wildest dreams" later in the letter.

“Life is so full of unexpected surprises and challenges, thinking on it as a kid would I have ever guessed I would end up here? Absolutely not. Is this life beyond my wildest dreams? Absolutely.”

She concluded her letter by sharing that she wants to enjoy every second of her life, even the tough moments.

This year alone, Osaka reached the fourth round of the French Open for the first time in her career and round 16 of the US Open. The tennis star is known for her fashion statements, and during her run at the US Open she went viral for her Allen Iverson-inspired look.
