Mystics' Sonia Citron plays most spotless debut in WNBA history

One thing that's tough for rookies to do early in their WNBA career is be efficient.

But occasionally, a player can hit the ground running from an efficiency standout right in their professional debut. For the Washington Mystics, that's exactly what Sonia Citron did on Friday night.

Citron was nearly perfect. She shot 6-for-7 from the floor to score 19 points in 24 minutes.

The Next Hoops reporter Hunter Cruse noted that Cintron had the most efficient debut game by a rookie in WNBA history.

That measure came from true shooting percentage, of which Citron had a 98.5% vs. the Dream. True shooting percentage factors in the point value of 3-pointers and free throws. Citron was 2-of-2 from 3 and 5-of-6 from the foul line.

Whatever happens next, Citron can always claim one of the best debuts in league history.

Citron, 21, is from New Rochelle, New York and attended Notre Dame.

The Mystics took her third overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

Citron is dating Cowboys linebacker Marist Liufau, who was at the WNBA Draft to support Citron.

Now, she's in the league and already shining bright.
