Every year during Super Bowl, studios release a plethora of trailers for upcoming highly anticipated movies and Super Bowl LX was no exception. Much like Superman last year, DC Studios opted to premiere its Supergirl spot during Animal Planet’s annual equivalent the Puppy Bowl. While Lucasfilm’s attempt to promote this summer’s The Mandalorian & Grogu film with an homage to classic Budweiser Clydesdales ad fell flat, audiences were won over by the Supergirl TV spot thanks in large part to the introduction of puppy Krypto.  

Indeed, it appears Baby Yoda Grogu has some competition in the category of adorable franchise mascot. In fact, the DC Shop has already unveiled exclusive, official merchandise inspired by DC Studios’ hugely anticipated upcoming feature film Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock. The limited-edition collection spotlights the origins of Krypto the Superdog when he was just a scrappy little puppy.

DC Shop exclusives include a Comfort Colors T-shirt featuring Puppy Krypto perched atop the iconic S-Shield (available in Black, $27.95) and an Oversized Heavyweight Hoodie (available in Black, $63.95). The hoodie features a stylized S-Shield on the front, a “Training in Progress” print across the right sleeve, and DC’s “goodest” boy posing innocently (or is he?) on the back.  A premium poster featuring Puppy Krypto is also available (20×30 retails for $31.95, 24×36 retails for $34.95).  

Considering the success DC Studios co-head James Gunn had with Baby Groot for Marvel, it doesn’t come as a surprise he’s bringing the same magic with the Distinguished Competition. This Toy Fair taking place this weekend at Jacob Javitz, it’s a safe bet to expect some puppy Krypto merchandise to be on display.
