The Chicago White Sox magical season ended on a sour note, blowing a 2-0 series lead by falling to the Cleveland Guardians in Game 5.

In the end. the White Sox' penchant for strikeouts became the team's fatal flaw. While Chicago led the American League in runs in 2026, they also had the second-most strikeouts in the league, and that only got worse in the postseason.

When the White Sox needed to rally, their offense was unable to get anything going and instead struck out at a record pace against Guardians pitching. Now, Chicago is headed home instead of playing in the ALDS.

Here's a breakdown of the how the White Sox made the wrong kind of history in Game 5.
