The UEFA Champions League has produced some sensational matches over the years, often accompanied by memorable goalscoring feats.

Kylian Mbappe stormed to the Golden Boot in the 2025/26 competition, plundering 15 goals for Real Madrid.

Robert Lewandowski is the third-highest goal-scorer in the competition, but will get no closer to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi at the top of the standings after the former Bayern Munich star called time on his spell with Barcelona to join Chicago Fire.

The Sporting News brings you a look at the all-time top scorers in Champions League and European Cup history.

Most goals in Champions League history

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the way, having scored 140 goals in the competition during his illustrious career, which saw him bag goals for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League. His career rival Lionel Messi, meanwhile, is second with 129 goals for Barcelona and PSG.

Robert Lewandowski is third, having become just the third player to reach a century of goals in the competition on November 26, 2024. The Poland international is also the only player to score a hat-trick for three different teams in the competition (Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona). Depending on where he signs this coming summer, Lewandowski may have played his final UCL match with Barcelona eliminated from the 2025/26 competition.

Where do Mbappe and Haaland rank in all-time Champions League goal scorers?

Mbappe and Haaland have already impressed in the Champions League and are expected to continue to do so for some time to come.

Mbappe moved joint fifth alongside Real Madrid great Raul with a goal in Los Blancos' opening 2-1 win over Inter Milan in September 2026. The France forward has scored 71 goals in 99 games in the competition, giving him more than greats like Alfredo Di Stefano, Thierry Henry and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Mbappe nearly reached Cristiano Ronaldo's single-season record of 17 goals in a single competition in the 2025/26 season, but fell just short as Real Madrid went out in the quarterfinals at the hands of Harry Kane and Bayern Munich.
