Monaco vs. Tottenham lineups: Predicted starting XI, team news, injury latest for UEFA Champions League

2 hours ago 1

Both Monaco and Tottenham will be out to steady the ship when they meet at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

Neither side managed to win after the international break, and both are desperate to find consistency in Europe and at home.

Tottenham have made a decent start to life back in the Champions League, taking four points from their first two games. After edging past Villarreal in their opener, they drew 2-2 with Bodo/Glimt thanks to a late own goal.

But recent domestic form has been patchy for Thomas Frank's side, with only one win in their past four games. Away from home, however, they remain unbeaten this season.

Monaco, meanwhile, are beginning a new era under Sebastien Pocognoli after Adi Hütter’s dismissal. The Belgian coach oversaw a 1-1 draw with Angers in his first match, as the French side’s search for a clean sheet continues.

With both teams unpredictable and goals expected, this could be another entertaining European contest on the French Riviera.

Monaco vs. Tottenham: Predicted starting XI and latest team news

Pocognoli will have to deal with several injury absences for his first Champions League game in charge.

Long-time Tottenham favourite Eric Dier is ruled out with a hamstring issue and joins a long list of sidelined players, including Lukas Hradecky, Christian Mawissa, Vanderson, Denis Zakaria, and Lamine Camara.

Paul Pogba remains unavailable as he continues to work on his fitness. Up front, Pocognoli has no worries, with Folarin Balogun pushing to start after scoring from the bench against Angers.

Monaco predicted starting XI (3-4-2-1, right to left): Kohn (GK) — Salisu, Kehrer, Henrique — Diatta, Coulibaly, Teze, Ouattara — Akliouche, Fati — Balogun.

Injured: Eric Dier (hamstring), Hradecky (knee), Mawissa (hamstring), Vanderson (hamstring), Zakaria (adductor), Camara (ankle), and Pogba (fitness).
Suspended: None

Tottenham’s defensive problems continue ahead of their trip to Monaco. Destiny Udogie missed the last match with a knee issue, while captain Cristian Romero picked up an adductor injury during the warm-up and is unlikely to feature.

Kevin Danso should again partner Micky van de Ven at centre-back.

Spurs are also without Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Yves Bissouma, Radu Dragusin, Kota Takai, Ben Davies, and Dominic Solanke, while Mathys Tel remains ineligible and sidelined with a calf problem.

Tottenham predicted starting XI (4-3-3, right to left): Vicario (GK) — Porro, Danso, Van de Ven, Spence — Sarr, Bentancur, Bergvall — Johnson, Richarlison, Simons.

Injured: Udogie (knee), Romero (adductor), Kulusevski (knee), Maddison (knee), Bissouma (ankle), Dragusin (knee), Takai (foot), Davies (muscle) and Solanke (ankle)
Suspended: None
