Moment teen girl on an e-scooter is mowed down by a school bus in front of her friend

See the heart-stopping moment a Las Vegas school bus slams into a teenage girl on an e-bike as her friend watched.

Newly obtained video shows the crash — that happened on Jan. 12 around 1:20 p.m. — and caused serious injuries to the teenager.

The video shows a school bus traveling south on Tenaya Way until it crosses Lake Mead Boulevard in the western portion of the city, and two e-scooters appear. The scooters appeared to be riding in a plaza parking lot before exiting the lot and entering a bike lane.

In another video, one of the teens is seen colliding with a bus and falling onto the pavement of the busy street.

At the time of the collision, the bus was traveling almost 40 miles per hour, according to 8 News Now.

The teen ended up suffering injuries to her elbow and wrist that required surgery, the outlet reported.

The Clark County School District paid the 17-year-old $200,000 to cover her medical bills from the operations.

E-scooter crashes involving children under 18 have become a problem in Clark County with more than 140 between Aug. 2025 and May 2026, according to Clark County School District Police Department data.

“Parents just really need to realize what they’re buying their kids,” CCSDPD Lt. Michael Campbell told 8 News Now. “You know, get a helmet on your kid. Tell them to slow down and abide by the laws. But if it doesn’t have pedals, it shouldn’t be on the road.”
