MLB Rumors: Trade market stunned as D-backs' GM pulls plug on Ketel Marte talks; Reds continue aggressive Luis Robert pursuit

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte has been the subject of trade talks over the last few weeks, with the Boston Red Sox one of the teams being linked with the All-Star infielder.

Marte, who earned his second consecutive All-Star selection last season, is owed $102.5 million over the next six seasons. However, Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen wishes to resolve the situation "shortly."

“We’re very likely to put an end to this shortly,” Hazen said on Tuesday. “I haven’t figured that out yet. But this isn’t going to continue to linger. We need to focus on our offseason. "Again, my gut this whole time was that [a trade of Marte] wasn’t going to happen, and I think it seems likely that that’s the case and we want to focus on other things we need to do.”

Marte has a five-team no-trade list, restricting his move to the Athletics, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals.

Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox continue to be on the lookout for a potential trade for Luis Roberts Jr. The Cincinnati Reds have been strongly linked with the All-Star outfielder over the last few weeks. MLB insider J. Williams shared that the Reds continue to be in pursuit of Roberts and "really want" the outfielder.

“The Reds and the White Sox have been talking about this for now two off-seasons, so I think the Reds really want him, I think they really want to make it work.”

Diamondbacks slugger Ketel Marte will have a no-trade protection next season

This year's offseason has limited infield options for teams, with All-Star sluggers Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette as the two high-profile infielders remaining available in free agency.

Ketel Marte is the most high-profile potential trade piece remaining on the market, with the two-time All-Star coming off a strong season for the Diamondbacks, slashing .283/.376/.517 with 28 home runs and 72 RBIs in 126 games.

Marte will have full no-trade protection on the 10th day of next season when he attains 10-and-5 rights, if he remains with the Diamondbacks this offseason.
