MLB insider reveals Red Sox are in the mix for two-time NPB MVP set to be posted to MLB this offseason

The MLB gets a lot of star power through the international posting system, where players from other leagues get released from their teams and try to find a new home in the MLB. Japan is one of the biggest markets, bringing talent like Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Masataka Yoshida, and many more to the MLB.

Now, the next big star is set to come from Japan: Munetaka Murakami. According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Boston Red Sox are one of the teams in the mix for this slugger.

“Sources say the Dodgers, Giants and Red Sox could also be in the mix, though much of it will depend on how each team views his ability to play first and/or third, or his willingness to be a designated hitter,” Feinsand wrote.

Of the three teams that are “in the mix”, the Red Sox and San Francisco Giants make the most sense. The Dodgers already have Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Max Muncy at DH, first, and third. The Sox right now have an open slot at first, possibly at third if Bregman leaves. And the Giants have an open spot at DH.

However, between the two, the Sox are still better. They have an open spot, and two others that can be opened in DH, and third. Plus, if Murakami wants to win, he probably would want to go with the team that made the playoffs.

Hopefully, the Sox find a way to recruit Murakami and use him as the final piece to get over the hump and get their 10th World Series win.
