After a strong 2025 season, Alex Bregman opted out of the remainder of his contract to try his luck at securing an improved offer in free agency.

The infielder was initially predicted to be one of the most sought-after stars on the market, and several teams have reportedly been keeping tabs on him. However, it appears an ideal offer has not yet materialzed.

On Thursday's episode of "The Baseball Insiders" podcast, FanSided's Robert Murray listed the teams he sees as Bregman's top suitors, before offering his prediction on where he sees the infielder signing.

"If Ketel Marte stays put, that probably would rule out (Alex) Bregman (signing) with the Diamondbacks," Murray said (Timestamp: 16:40). "I can't see a world where they're able to keep both salaries on that roster. That would seemingly help the Red Sox with their effort in trying to keep Alex Bregman, but you have the Blue Jays lurking. Although, I still think they will prioritize (Bo) Bichette over a guy like Bregman. You also have the Cubs involved, they had interest last offseason that's maintained into this offseason as well. "I don't know how it's going to play out. That being said, I don't think the Red Sox have a bad chance here with Alex Bregman. But it's going to be up to them to pony up and get him. If you want to sign a free agent, you have to get a little bit uncomfortable. To me, Bregman's the guy they should pony up for and go get. Now it's up to (Red Sox chief baseball officer) Craig Breslow and the ownership group to sign off on that signing, and they absolutely should."

"We want nothing more than for him to be back with us" - Roman Anthony speaks about Alex Bregman's importance for the Red Sox

Speaking to MLB Netowrk Radio on On Dec. 22, young outfielder Roman Anthony offered insight into the important role Alex Bregman played behind the scenes in Boston, and why he hopes to see the three-time All-Star re-sign with the Red Sox this winter.

"He was like another manager, in a sense," Anthony said. "And that's just the kind of guy he is. The leader, the winner that he is. And he doesn't settle for anything short of greatness from everybody. And that's what he expects out of everybody, even from a young rookie like myself. But he helped me to such a high standard. Helped me out so much. "Obviously we want nothing more than for him to be back with us. But you know, we'll see what happens. But he definitely, you know, kind of instilled that routine into me and that preparation side of things that's, you know, sometimes more important than the physical side. So, yeah, I can't say enough about him."
