Over the years, the Colorado Rockies have had their fair share of first-round draft picks within the top 10. Six of their last seven picks all came within that range, with the most recent pick being prep bat Ethan Holliday at fourth overall last year.
This year, the Rockies find themselves a few spots down from four, drafting at No. 10. And while some premier players will be gone, there will still be loads of talent to choose from.
Now, it's about finding someone who will fit in well with the organization. And with how hard it is for the club to acquire decent pitching, grabbing an arm in the 10-spot may not be a bad idea.

MLB analyst sets the stage for the Rockies to draft a 60-grade power threat
The last time the Rockies took a pitcher in the first round was not too long ago. They grabbed Chase Dollander ninth overall during the 2023 MLB Draft, and he has been a big presence with the big-league club this season.
However, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter has the team going a different route. He sees them grabbing Georgia Tech outfielder Drew Burress at pick No. 10.
"While he lacks physicality with a 5"9', 185-pound frame, Burress has plus tools across the board, including legitimate 60-grade power and the requisite athleticism to stick in center field. He is a .359/.485/.720 hitter with 57 home runs and 183 RBI in 172 career games at Georgia Tech, and stands as the top college outfielder in the 2026 class."
Burress isn't the biggest guy on the field, but he doesn't need to be. Even with a smaller frame, he has no problem crushing baseballs over the fence.
On top of that, he is also an excellent defender out in the outfield. Many scouts believe he will have little-to-no problems sticking in center field, but could move to right field if he does struggle in professional ball.
