The most highly sought-after free agent has found his new team. Through a sign-and-trade, the Golden Knights are acquiring right winger Mitch Marner in a significant deal.
Marner, 28, has spent his entire career with the Maple Leafs so far. He was drafted with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. After his rookie contract ended, he signed a massive six-year, $65.41 million contract.
There was a chance that he was going to return to the Maple Leafs, but as the dust settled, Toronto instead worked on a sign-and-trade involving Marner going to Vegas. He projects to join the Golden Knights' front line and help them become a Stanley Cup contender.
