Olive Branch and Ridgeland met in 2025's MHSAA Class 6A state championship game at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Miss., on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The two Class 6A powers are on a potential crash course to meet again.

Mississippi's MHSAA boys basketball playoffs are in full swing after tipping off last Tuesday night and continuing through the weekend.

The state's seven classifications are all headed into the quarterfinals this week, and by Saturday, the state's semifinal pairings will be set. Leading the way are the Magnolia State's top-ranked Class 7A Starkville [MS] Yellowjackets who throttled the Lewisburg [Olive Branch, MS] Patriots, 64-20, in their opening playoff game Saturday evening.

Next up for the Yellowjackets is a Thursday evening clash with the Tupelo [MS] Golden Wave. Other top-ranked teams by classification according to MaxPreps include the Class 6A Ridgeland [MS] Titans, Class 5A Columbus [MS] Falcons, Class 4A Leake Central [Carthage, MS] Gators, Class 3A Booneville [MS] Blue Devils, Class 2A North Side [Shelby, MS] Gators, and Class 1A West Union [Myrtle, MS] Eagles.

The top quarterfinal matchup is likely the Class 5A matchup between the state's top two teams in that division when Columbus takes on the Lanier [Jackson, MS] Bulldogs on Friday night. Prior to that, two Class 7A powerhouses will meet Thursday evening when the No. 2 Germantown [Madison, MS] Mavericks face off against the No. 4 DeSoto Central [Southaven, MS] Jaguars.

Those two matchups are part of a three-night blitz that will also feature two of Class 6A's top five teams in a Wednesday night matchup between the division's No. 2 Canton [MS] Tigers and the No. 5 Olive Branch [MS] Conquistadors.
