Miles Bridges and the Hornets do not want to be complacent amid the winning streak

1 hour ago 3

It has been a fantastic few weeks for the Charlotte Hornets, as they are now on a nine-game winning streak. That is the longest active winning streak in the league, as the New York Knicks suffered a blowout defeat that ended their eight-game winning run.

Now, the Hornets are alone as the hottest team in the league. Of course, this should be something the team should be proud of. However, they know the bigger picture, and that is how they are not one of the top teams just yet.

Bridges and the Hornets are aware of the Hornets' bigger picture

After their 53rd game of the season, the Hornets have a 25-28 record, which is good for 10th in the Eastern Conference. They are now in the spots that can lead to them participating in the Play-In Tournament for a shot at the postseason.

It is an impressive accolade for the Hornets, especially with their nine-game winning streak. However, they want to be much better to automatically clinch a spot in the postseason.

As the longest-tenured player in the Hornets franchise, Bridges has been with the team through thick and thin. He is well aware of how the Hornets can crumble in high-pressure situations. They are now riding a high of a winning streak, but it could easily get away from them with a handful of losses.

"Making sure we don't get complacent... Just doing the little things that got us here. If we focus on that, then we're gonna be in the game with anybody. We've shown that we can beat teams that are good teams, playoff teams, and we want to keep that going," Bridges said after their latest win on Saturday.

The Hornets' latest victory was against the Atlanta Hawks, led by first-time All-Star Jalen Johnson. It was a superb performance by the Hawks, as they had six players scoring double figures.

Unfortunately, the Hornets were too good for the Hawks, as they still won 126-119. It was also a well-rounded performance from the Hornets, but Bridges and Kon Knueppel were the standouts. They would want to keep this up, as they want to aim for greatness rather than settling for mediocrity.
