Arsenal are preparing to take on Manchester City in one of the Premier League's biggest games of the weekend.

Arsenal sit third in the table, while City have fallen to eleventh after just two wins on the season.

Mikel Arteta made plenty of summer signings to boost his squad, and the manager will have been pleased with what he's seen from his new players.

Arteta spoke to the media ahead of the weekend's match, and the Gunners boss made a big statement about City despite their form thus far.

What did Arteta say about Manchester City?

Arsenal and City are both chasing Premier League titleholders Liverpool, who are off to a flying start to the season.

When asked whether City are still in contention to knock Liverpool off the title, Arteta said, "Without a doubt.

"Knowing Pep really, and the demands he puts on his players, the mentality they have in the football club, the squad and the players that they have, I think so for sure."

City have fallen from the standards that Pep Guardiola has had for his side, but the team remains one to watch out for.

Arteta continued, "What Pep's already done in this league is unprecedented.

"The level that he's put into the standard of this league is, in my opinion, unprecedented, and maintaining those levels for 10 years is already something incredible, and the demands are there for him and he wants to carry on because he believes that he can do it again."

Arsenal finished second to City for two consecutive seasons, but Arteta's side is now unbeaten against the Manchester side in their last five matches, which will give the Gunners more confidence going into the match.
