Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, who once coached Caleb Williams when the QB was 14, will have to wait for their first on-field reunion in a regular game. The two will not face in the upcoming preseason game between the Dolphins and the Chicago Bears on Sunday, as Williams will sit out Sunday's matchup, according to Bears coach Ben Johnson.

However, Williams is facing McDaniel's team today during their joint practice at Halas Hall. This session offers McDaniel and the Dolphins a chance to see Williams and the Bears in action, even though the anticipated game-time reunion will have to wait.

670 The Score's reporter Chris Emma tweeted: "Mike McDaniel once coached Caleb Williams as a 14-year-old quarterback and has developed a strong respect for Ben Johnson. He’s eager to line up his Dolphins against the Bears."

In an interview with CHGO's "Hoge & Jahns" show before today's practice, Johnson said Williams and most starters will not play in the preseason opener against the Dolphins on Sunday.

"There are going to be a number of guys that aren't playing in this game. I haven't even told the team this yet," Johnson said. "There are going to be a number of guys that aren't playing in the game, so we're going to get great work in the joint practice."

Caleb Williams, a "super talented" player according to Mike McDaniel, is poised for a standout season under the guidance of Ben Johnson.
