The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a Mike Evans injury scare late in the wild Week 3 win over the New York Jets.
Evans suffered what was diagnosed as a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game. Upon his exit from the field, Evans was clearly hobbled and frustrated, which wasn't a good sign.
However, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles provided an injury update after the game, and while it wasn't 100% definitive, it was positive news.
Mike Evans injury update
According to Bowles, the early news is that Evans tweaked his hamstring, although he is set to undergo more tests, ESPN's Jenna Laine reports.
"So far it's a hamstring tweak. I have not gone in to see the final details yet," Bowles said.
The Bucs can ill-afford to lose Evans for any period of time given their existing injury woes at the position to start the season.
Chris Godwin has yet to return from his dislocated ankle from last season and Jalen McMillan is currently on injured reserve. Rookie Emeka Egbuka was also dealing with an injury going into Week 3, but he was able to play.
