An migrant was forced to jump out of a second-story window to escape captivity in Houston after a human trafficker held him for ransom for days without food, according to authorities.

Cameron Tucker, 25, allegedly smuggled the Mexican migrant to Houston after he crossed the border illegally into Eagle Pass, Texas, hiding him in the floorboard of his car, according to KPRC.

Days later, the twice-convicted felon allegedly held the victim at gunpoint inside a Houston home and demanded $2,000 from his family in Mexico, according to authorities.

The victim was able to flee by moving a mattress blocking a bedroom door before jumping to freedom, according to KPRC.

The Mexican man was able to alert local cops who happened to be nearby. The officers found Tucker hiding inside the home after breaking down the door.

“I heard the helicopters and I heard dogs barking,” a neighbor who requested anonymity said. “They were here about 4:45 in the morning and all the way until 6 in the evening.”

Tucker allegedly drove halfway to the border to pick up the victim, who was handed off by an unnamed female smuggler. The woman dropped the victim off at the border on the Mexican side before she drove across illegally and picked him up on the US side.

The Mexican man told investigators he stayed in homes in Eagle Pass for three nights before Tucker picked him up, according to KPRC.

Residents of the family-friendly Houston neighborhood where the victim was held expressed shock over the discovery.

“It does make you think twice because we’re not too far, and I had no idea that was going on,” one neighbor told KPRC.

Another neighbor described people coming in and out of the house at odd hours.

“Around 12, 2 o’clock in the morning, 2:30 in the morning, that’s when they would come out,” the neighbor said.

Tucker now faces aggravated kidnapping charges.
