Now that Sherrone Moore has a year of experience under his belt with the Michigan Wolverines, the team is settling into his system as they welcome a new quarterback that some believe could easily lead Michigan back to the promised land in 17-year-old Bryce Underwood.
And on the bright side, the team's schedule is much easier this year, as opposed to last year when the team faced off against three of the best teams in the country.
But according to Chris Peterson of GBM Wolverine, even though only one top 10 opponent might stand in the team's way in 2025 (Ohio State), there are three games that the Wolverines don't need to just brush to the side, or they could find their playoff hopes in peril very quickly.
The first one coming against the Wisconsin Badgers on October 4, an opponent that the Wolverines aren't as familiar with, and Wisconsin's first trip to Ann Arbor since the Badgers' annihilation of the team back in 2020 in a 49-11 win.
Peterson's main concern is Underwood as a rookie against a veteran defensive coach like Wisconsin's Luke Fickell.
The next game is against the Michigan State Spartans on October 25, and this year, it's in East Lansing, in a game that Peterson describes as "Michigan State's Super Bowl."
And to be fair, the Spartans were almost victorious against the Wolverines at "The Big House" last year, so there could be more of a threat from the Spartans than expected.
And the final game that could be considered a trap is not "The Game" against Ohio State, but it's the game before that, against the Maryland Terrapins in Maryland.
Though Maryland finished with a 4-8 record in the 2024 season, they will also have a big new name at quarterback in Malik Washington.
At this point in time, though Underwood should be comfortable leading the Wolverines and should have a strong grasp on the system, hopefully giving the team and the fans little to worry about during the 2025 season, and putting the Wolverines back in the hunt for the College Football Playoffs and their second national championship in three years.
