Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham has officially seen enough from starting quarterback Bryce Underwood. The Wolverines are taking on Penn State at home. After entering the locker room trailing 3-0 at halftime, Whittingham put in true freshman Tommy Carr to direct the offense.
During Michgian's first offensive series in the second half, Carr came out as the starting quarterback for the Wolverines.
Underwood threw two interceptions in the first half.

Why did Underwood get benched?
The former five-star quarterback completed just five passes for 43 yards in the first half with two interceptions. Outside of his picks, Michigan's only other three possessions on offense resulted in punts.

This marks the first time that Underwood has been benched all season, although Whittingham had suggested earlier this season that it is a possibility.
The Michigan fans were excited to see Carr come onto the field:

Who is Tommy Carr?
Carr earned the backup job to Underwood before the start of the season. He is the grandson of former legendary Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr, and the brother of starting Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr.
So far this season, Carr played in just one game, against UTEP earlier in the year. He threw two completions for 23 yards and a touchdown during Michigan's 52-17 blowout victory.
Carr is a former four-star quarterback prospect from the class of 2026.
