Rob Reiner's Son Nick Reiner Arrested in Connection with Deaths of Director & Michele Reiner

Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner spent their final days surrounded by loved ones.

Weeks before the When Harry Met Sally director and his wife of 36 years were tragically found dead in their home Dec. 14 in what the Los Angeles police have referred to as an “apparent homicide,” their daughter Romy Reiner, 28, shared a look into a family vacation.

On Dec. 1, Romy shared a recap of the family’s tropical trip, including moments of her mom wrapped in a green and white striped towel on the beach and looking out into the water, and her dad enjoying a swim with her. Alongside the wrap, the You People actress wrote, “Thankful for family, health, and followers of any age.”

In a separate Nov. 30 post, Romy shared another peek into time with her parents, including a selfie with her dad, who wore a Spinal Tap II baseball hat, as the pair swam in the ocean.

The deaths of Rob and Michele—also parents to Jake Reiner, 34, and Nick Reiner, 32—were confirmed in a statement by family members on the evening of Dec. 14.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” the statement to Variety said. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Hours after Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were found dead in their Brentwood, Calif. home, their son Nick was arrested in connection to their deaths and booked for murder, the Los Angeles police said in a Dec. 15 press release. He is being held without bail, according to the LAPD.

Rob’s 61-year-old daughter Tracy Reiner—whom he shared with late ex Penny Marshall—has shared that she is still in a state of shock over her father’s death.

“I came from the greatest family ever,” Tracy, who noted she had spent time with her father on Dec. 13, told NBC News. “I don’t know what to say.”

Romy has not yet spoken out about the loss of her parents. The actress, however, often shared sweet peeks into her relationship with both her parents, but particularly her dad, who was often the subject in comedic clips on her Instagram. In fact, just hours before Rob’s death was confirmed, Romy had posted about his 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap and its recently released sequel Spinal Tap II: The End Continues

In a post celebrating Father’s Day in 2021, Romy called her father someone “I could talk to forever and also the man who I can sit in silence with and be perfectly content.”

She concluded in her post, “Love you forever.”
