Micah Parsons requests trade after drama-filled breakup sparked by Cowboys' horrible tactic

The Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons’ contract situation has gone from bad to worse in no time. The two sides are now farther apart than ever in trying to reach a deal. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio suggested Parsons could walk out.

“The nuclear option hovers over the noise. Parsons could leave camp. And the Cowboys would have to decide after five days whether to shut him down for the full season. On one hand, he would be paid nothing. On the other hand, the Cowboys wouldn’t have him. Given that Jerry also described Micah on Sunday as ‘maybe the most talented player we’ve had,’ the Cowboys likely wouldn’t shelve him for the full season if he leaves and doesn’t return within five days. However it plays out, Micah won’t get full value for his abilities unless he takes a stand. Especially since a walkout would make those ‘pay Micah’ chants much, much louder,” Florio wrote.

To ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the whole situation feels very personal.

“This sounds different to me. This sounds a little bit more personal from both sides. It sounds like Dallas is upset with the fact it felt like it was getting closer to a deal and that deal went sideways. And I think Micah Parsons feels like this deal should have been done,” Schefter said.

Jerry Jones thought he had a deal done with Parsons, but when Parsons’ agent called to negotiate, the situation turned hostile. After these reports surfaced, Parsons revealed he no longer wants to play for the Cowboys.

“Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,” Parsons posted.

The Cowboys had a player who wanted to continue his career in Dallas, but instead, they have run him off. Now, they will have to trade Parsons and watch him dominate for another team. This is a huge misstep by the Cowboys as they prepare to say goodbye to one of the sport’s brightest stars.
