Miami TV spot goes off the rails with Scottish World Cup fans

Kacy Hintz, a sports reporter for WPLG Local 10 in South Florida, apologized after an overzealous Scottish fan dropped a few F-bombs while she was on live television in Miami on Monday.

After Scotland’s supporters’ group took over Boston for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Tartan Army made waves in Miami ahead of the team’s Group C match against Brazil, taking place Wednesday.

“We love Miami… up the f–king Scotland, up this Scotland!” the fan yelled as he grabbed Hintz’s mic.

She quickly pulled the mic away as he began yelling.

“I’m sorry,” the fan said repeatedly, grabbing the mic again.

More Scottish fans crowded around Hintz as she continued with her live hit outside of LoanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins.

“No Scotland, no party!” the fans chanted while pumping their fists behind her.

“I do apologize folks, of course for a couple of drops here,” Hintz said, referring to the profanity. “These folks have been drinking all day.”

Hintz added that 25,000 Scottish fans were expected to be at the Marlins game on Monday, where the Texas Rangers beat Miami 4-3.

“A lot of them don’t even have [plane] tickets to go home,” Hintz said. “They’re waiting until Scotland plays out in this tournament.

“… They’re just so thankful they’ve been accepted here in America.”

Scotland soccer fans went viral as they descended upon Boston for the 2026 FIFA World Cup earlier this month.

Boston Beer Co. said in a news release that the Tartan Army drank four times what the company normally stocks during a four-day holiday stretch, such as the Fourth of July — and it had to schedule an emergency delivery of beer.

“We’ve never seen anything like it,” Billy DeCain of the Sam Adams Boston Taproom told NBC Boston.

Scotland defeated Haiti 1-0 on June 13, before a loss to Morocco 1-0 on June 19 at Boston Stadium.
