Miami will be without one of its most dynamic offensive weapons as it faces SMU in a pivotal ACC matchup Saturday. Wide receiver CJ Daniels was ruled out ahead of kickoff, joining defensive tackle Ahmad Moten Sr. and cornerback OJ Frederique Jr. on the inactive list.
The LSU transfer was initially listed as a game-time decision before being ruled out Saturday morning. His absence is a major blow for quarterback Carson Beck and the Hurricanes’ passing attack, which will rely on Malachi Toney.
Daniels ranks second on the team with 33 receptions and 351 receiving yards and leads the ACC with six touchdown catches. Toney will likely draw a majority of targets against SMU’s second-wost pass defense.

— Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) November 1, 2025BYU transfer Keelan Marion and veteran Tony Johnson are expected to see larger roles as well. Johnson had 69 yards last week against Stanford, and Joshua Moore added four catches in that game.
The Hurricanes (6-1) enter the road contest as the runner-up in the ACC standings behind undefeated Georgia Tech at 8-0. They're chasing their first conference title game berth in eight years.
