Major League Baseball's Friday night slate is highlighted with a rematch of the 2024 NLCS.
The Mets and Dodgers played a best-of-seven last fall with Los Angeles winning in six games and advancing to the World Series. Both teams made significant offseason moves to improve their chances at another deep postseason run.
Of course, New York had the splash of the year signing Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract. The Dodgers, the reigning World Series champions, added Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott and Blake Snell.
Both squads have lived up to lofty expectations early on, holding two of the best records in all of MLB. A rematch in October seems likely as long as they maintain pace and avoid major injuries.
That being said, the Dodgers have been dealing with a handful of key injuries. Snell, Blake Treinen, Emmet Sheehan, Michael Kopech, Brusdar Graterol and Gavin Stone are on the 60-day injured list, and Sasaki, Tyler Glasnow, Evan Phillips and Kirby Yates are on the 15-day IL. All 10 players are pitchers, making Los Angeles' rotation and bullpen thin. Not to mention, Shohei Ohtani still isn't ready to pitch.
One positive, however, is that Clayton Kershaw is back on the mound. The veteran made his season debut last weekend and is the expected starter for Friday's game against the Mets. Griffin Canning will get the ball to start for New York.
