Mets urged to make trade for Angels' 3X MVP to pair with Juan Soto

This would break baseball and the hearts of Los Angeles Angels fans.

Mike Trout is in his 16th season with the AL West organization and hasn't made an appearance in the postseason since 2014.

As a three-time MVP and one of the best outfielders in Major League history, it would be sad to see Trout retire without playing for a contender. However, FanSided's Christopher Kline has a solution that would send Trout's career in a totally different direction.

Kline's trade idea pairs Trout with Juan Soto on the New York Mets, potentially boosting the Mets' World Series odds.

Trout 'raises the Mets' ceiling closer to the Dodgers' with trade

Given his recent offensive track record, Kline does not believe the Mets should buy stock in Luis Robert Jr.'s hot start to the season. Robert has two consecutive seasons with an OPS of .661 or lower.

"Trout can step into the DH slot, where injury risks are mitigated. Or the Mets can stick him in a corner outfield spot and finally relegate [Juan] Soto to DH, which is a move years in the making at this point," Kline wrote Sunday.

"The Mets could certainly use the boost defensively — the left side of their defense with Soto in left and Bo Bichette at third is severely compromised at the moment — but even if he's exclusively there for offense, Trout raises the Mets' ceiling closer to the Dodgers than any other team."

Trout still has thump in his bat and can make a significant impact when healthy. The Mets would have to move around some pieces, but adding one of the best baseball players of all time, even past his prime, would have to be an intriguing thought for the front office.
