Mets reporter flags concerns over Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor's relationship amid struggles

The New York Mets went all out this offseason, trading for players they believed would improve the roster. They also signed key additions like Bo Bichette, who were expected to make a major impact. However, the Mets have now lost 11 straight games for the first time since 2004.

“The losses are piling up for the New York Mets, and Francisco Lindor thinks the criticism surrounding the team is about to get very loud. New York dropped its 11th consecutive game when closer Devin Williams blew a ninth-inning lead in a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs in 10 innings Sunday. It's the longest slide for the Mets since they lost 11 in a row from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8 in 2004,” ESPN wrote.

Francisco Lindor, who is the leader of the team, has been struggling mightily this season. Even manager Carlos Mendozahas expressed some confusion about what is happening.

“"It's weird because that's not him," Mendoza said. "It's hard to explain. And he'll be the first one. He'll tell you that he's got to be better. But yeah, never seen some of those plays that he's just out of position at times."

On Monday, during the Foul Territory podcast, The Athletic’s Tim Britton joined the show. Britton covers the Mets and highlighted a potential underlying issue the team may be facing: Juan Soto and Lindor not seeing eye to eye.

“It's going to be a cloud of [questioning that] until they actually start winning games,” Britton said.

The Mets are in a very difficult spot right now, but having two of their stars not on the same page could create further issues. Winning cures everything, so perhaps the solution is simply getting a win.

No matter what, it is never ideal for a clubhouse to have potential distractions, and this situation may be lingering. Soto and Lindor will need to lead the Mets, not divide them.
