Mets ready to make decisions on David Stearns and Carlos Mendoza that fans won’t agree with

I don't personally know how the New York Mets could look at their current setup and think that this is a team built for long-term success.

Whether fans want to admit it or not, the trio of Steve Cohen, David Stearns, and Carlos Mendoza is perhaps the biggest failure we've ever seen from this organization.

More questions will be about Stearns and Mendoza than about Cohen, the owner of the team, who ultimately makes all the decisions.

However, it's fair to mention that Stearns and Mendoza should be fighting for their jobs over the next few months. The trade deadline will give Stearns an opportunity to make things right, but Mendoza needs to be much better for his guys in the clubhouse and try to at least right the ship a little bit.

I don't think it makes much sense to have Stearns or Mendoza back next year, but a former general manager and now reporter doesn't believe that's the case, adding that it's possible they could spend another offseason together.

“I think the trio of Steve Cohen, David Stearns and Carlos Mendoza can win in New York. This past offseason was a nightmare filled with mistakes, and the season has been plagued by one injury after another. Let’s give this trio another offseason and another year to turn things around. In terms of the blame game, the entire organization can share that collectively,” Jim Bowden wrote.

At times, it's best not to be emotional and make rash decisions.

However, we're past that stage with both of these guys now, and it's rather evident that New York isn't going to be the team it wants to be with both of them running the two most important jobs in the organization.
