Mets’ playoff odds plummeting amid brutal 11-game losing streak

Riding an 11-game losing streak into their series opener against the Twins, the Mets’ playoff chances have plummeted less than a month into the 2026 MLB season.

After entering the season as a popular National League contender, the struggling Mets now have just +128 odds to make the postseason at FanDuel Sportsbook. 

Before Opening Day, the Mets had high hopes for this season after adding third baseman Bo Bichette and frontline starter Freddy Peralta.

Now, after Sunday’s heartbreaking loss at Wrigley Field, they own an NL-worst 7-15 record.

The Mets opened as a slight favorite in the NL East, and were around -250 to make the postseason at major sportsbooks, trailing only the Dodgers in the NL.

Heading into Tuesday’s play, six senior circuit teams – the Dodgers, Braves, Cubs, Padres, Brewers and Reds – have better odds to make the playoffs than the Mets.

The Mets’ preseason win total of 90.5 was tied with the Yankees for the second-highest in baseball behind the two-time defending champs.

Less than 25 games into the season, even getting to 90 wins appears to be a tall task, with FanDuel pricing that possibility at +315 odds.

To little surprise, FanDuel has slashed the Mets’ World Series chances, moving them from +1300 preseason to +2200.

They’re also now a +1300 long shot to win the NL pennant.

Things have gotten so dire for the Mets that FanDuel decided to have some fun at their expense.

You can bet on when their next win will come at the sportsbook, starting with Tuesday night’s game in Minnesota, where they are a -160 favorite. 

The Mets will get some help Wednesday when Juan Soto returns to the lineup. The betting market says they desperately need it.
