The New York Mets have begun their offseason after a disappointing finish to the 2025 season.
After a strong start to the 2025 season, the Mets vanished as World Series contenders in the final months and were knocked out of postseason contention in the last few days of the regular season.
A lot of things will be addressed this offseason, including some much-needed help in all areas on the field. All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor began the offseason moves after he underwent a procedure to fix a setback.
Francisco Lindor undergoes minor elbow surgery to address lingering elbow pain
According to reports, Francisco Lindor underwent a right elbow debridement procedure to clean up an issue he's been dealing with for multiple years.
This is the Mets' shortstop's second procedure he's had on the elbow since 2023, but he's expected to make a full recovery for the start of the New York Mets' Spring Training that begins in February.
Lindor, 31, is going into his fifth season of a 10-year, $341 million deal he signed after getting traded to the Mets from the Cleveland Guardians in 2021.
He had another consistent season in 2025, appearing in 160 games and finishing with a .267 batting average, .346 on-base percentage, .466 slugging percentage, .811 OPS, and a 5.8 WAR while hitting 31 home runs, 86 RBI, and stealing 31 bases.
