The New York Mets have made a pair of roster moves before Monday's series opener against the San Diego Padres.
It was previously reported that infielder Christopher Morel's contract was selected from Triple-A Syracuse.
This afternoon, the Mets announced who Morel is replacing on the active roster. According to the NL East club's X post, fellow infielder Gabriel Arias was designated for assignment.
Arias' time with the Mets at the Major League level was brief.
He appeared in just two games following his DFA from the Cleveland Guardians, the organization he spent the first four and a half seasons of his career with.
Arias went hitless in five plate appearances with the Mets. He made one appearance at shortstop and another at first base.

Across 364 MLB games with the Guardians and Mets, Arias is a .218/.274/.358 hitter with 30 home runs and a .632 OPS.
He has struck out in 34.3% of his 1,173 plate appearances since making his debut in 2022, limiting his offensive impact.
Arias will have to wait and see if there are any takers on the waiver wire or if he's headed to Triple-A Syracuse with the Mets.
