ST. LOUIS – The Mets plan to utilize a top pitching prospect for their next turn through a six-man rotation.
Blade Tidwell, the organization’s No. 15 prospect overall, according to MLB Pipeline, will be called up from Triple-A Syracuse to start Sunday on the road against the Cardinals in his major-league debut, an industry source confirmed.
Tidwell, 23, pitched to a 5.00 ERA in six starts this season for Syracuse.

The right-hander will be used to lengthen the rotation during this stretch for the Mets of 13 straight days with a game.
The Mets previously used Justin Hagenman and Brandon Waddell behind an opener for the sixth spot in the rotation.

Tidewell, who features high-90s heat, has recorded 37 strikeouts in 27 innings this season for Syracuse. He was the organization’s second-round pick in the 2022 draft.
