Outfielder Luis Robert Jr. was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, just a few days after the New York Mets cut ties with the 2023 All-Star.
Now that Robert is with the Orioles, the Mets needed someone to replace him on the active roster.
According to The Athletic's Will Sammon, the NL East club made that decision this afternoon.
"The Mets are calling up outfielder Nick Morabito, league sources said," Sammon wrote on X.
Morabito, 23, had a brief five-game stint with the Mets earlier this season. He went hitless and struck out nine times in 12 trips to the plate.
Morabito's offensive work at Triple-A Syracuse has been much better, albeit in a much larger sample size.
In 114 games, he hit .254/.355/.388 with 13 home runs and a .743 OPS in 507 plate appearances.

He is ranked as New York's No. 13 prospect on MLB Pipeline. In 2022, Morabito was a second-round pick from Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.
In 2024, Morabito was named the Mets' Minor League Player of the Year after he hit .312/.403/.398 with 59 steals in 119 games at Single-A and High-A.
Since the Mets will not qualify for the postseason, this is a great opportunity for Morabito to audition for playing time in 2027.
