With the Mets hoping to bolster their outfield with superstar free agent Juan Soto this offseason, they’ve hit the trade market to add a new center field option.
The Mets acquired Jose Siri from the Rays on Tuesday for right-hander Eric Orze, The Post’s Mike Puma confirmed.
Siri, 29, is a strong defensive center fielder and figures to replace Harrison Bader in a center-field pairing with Tyrone Taylor.
The right-handed Siri also has some pop, hitting 18 home runs with 47 RBIs in 448 plate appearances during the 2024 season, though he hit just .187 with a .620 OPS and struck out 170 times.
In 2023, Siri hit 25 home runs with 56 RBIs, a .222 average and .761 OPS in 364 plate appearances.
Orze, 27, made his MLB debut with the Mets this past season, allowing four runs in 1 2/3 innings across two appearances.
In 43 appearances for Triple-A Syracuse, Orze had a 2.92 ERA with 84 strikeouts in 61 2/3 innings.
