Met Gala 2025: Rihanna Breaks Silence on Third Pregnancy
Shakira’s hips don’t lie, and neither do her lips.
In fact, while on the Met Gala’s red carpet—or in this case, blue carpet—the 48-year-old accidentally spilled the beans on Rihanna’s pregnancy news long before the “Love on the Brain” artist set foot at the event.
“I want to see her so bad,” Shakira told NBC News Los Angeles. “And I just heard the news, too.”
And when the reporter from NBC seemingly asks what news, the Grammy winner replied, “She’s pregnant,” before her eyes went wide and covering her face with her hands. “Am I not supposed to say that?”
Thankfully, even though Shakira arrived before Rihanna made her grand entrance at the gala, the “Diamonds” singer had already showed off her pregnancy outside New York City’s Carlyle Hotel hours before the event.
As seen in pictures taken by photographer Miles Diggs, Rihanna did nothing to hide her baby bump in a skintight, two-piece skirt set as she entered the hotel in front of photographers and fans alike.
So, by the time the 37-year-old—who is mom to sons RZA, 2, and Riot, 21 months, with partner A$AP Rocky—arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a stunning custom suit by Marc Jacobs, the world had been clued into her exciting news.

Exciting news she was more than ready to discuss, telling Entertainment Tonight on the carpet, “I’m good, shockingly feeling okay and not too overwhelmed at the moment. At first, I was kind of like tired, but I’m excited."
Similarly, A$AP—who acted as a Met Gala co-chair, alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton and Pharrell Williams—was excited to finally shout the news from the rooftop.

“It feels amazing, you know?” the rapper said in an Associated Press video interview. “We were tired of holding that, and it was time to show the people what we was cooking up. I’m glad everybody’s happy for us, because we’re definitely happy."
