Following some recent disappointments, could Mercedes Moné look to cut her ties with Athena? She could end up turning her attention to a popular ex-WWE Superstar as her new partner in AEW.
Last night on Dynamite, the CEO and the Forever Champion competed alongside one another as part of the opening round of the AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship Tournament. They faced off against the Babes of Wrath. Things got chaotic at the end of the contest, and this led to Kris Statlander getting involved. Mercedes ended up ditching her tag team partner as Stat stood in front of her.
This led to Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron scoring an upset win over them by pinning Athena. Next week, Mercedes could confront her regarding their loss and how she ended up being pinned. This could lead to tensions rising and the two eventually going at it. This would lead to the end of their temporary alliance, and Moné could look for a new ally.
Mercedes Moné could end up bringing in Dakota Kai as her new partner. This new duo would go against both Athena and Billie Starkz. The CEO could end up targeting the ROH Women's Championship out of spite, and this could lead to the next chapter of her feud with the Fallen Goddess. Athena could also go after the TBS title, which could lead to an intense title vs. title contest eventually.
Mercedes Moné has once hinted at Dakota Kai's AEW arrival
Back in June, following Dakota Kai's WWE release, many were wondering what the next step of her career could be. At the time, Mercedes Moné asked the fans who they would want to see ride the Moné Train and face her.
She seemed to have a suggestion of her own as she ended up tagging the Captain of Team Kick in her comments. Dakota replied to this with a train emoji, as she also seemed interested in the idea.
Mercedes Mone names Dakota Kai as someone she would like to wrestle
There was speculation for her Dakota Kai's AEW debut last month as Mercedes held a TBS Championship Open Challenge to anyone in Florida. With Kai being from the state, there was heavy speculation that this would be her. However, this ended up being Lacey Lane (FKA Kayden Carter). It remains to be seen if Dakota will become All-Elite sometime in the future.
