Mercedes Moné has pressed pause on her in-ring run with All Elite Wrestling, announcing an open-ended hiatus during a recent episode of AEW Collision. The decision follows a rough stretch for one of the most decorated names in modern wrestling, marked by high-profile losses and a very public fall from the top of the women’s division.
According to Newsweek, the announcement aired as a pre-recorded locker room segment that captured the moment after Moné’s latest setback. Appearing shaken and visibly frustrated, Mercedes Moné addressed fans directly and made it clear that the time away is intentional, not accidental.
“I am taking a break from AEW,” Moné said in the video. “To show you why and how I elevated. And good luck without me. Because when I return, I am collecting more than just titles.”

The message came on the heels of a chaotic confrontation with Willow Nightingale, who recently captured the TBS Championship. What began as Nightingale’s celebration turned into a pointed humiliation for Moné, ending with her being taken out after a cake was smashed in her face — a moment that underscored just how far her momentum has shifted.
Only months ago, Moné was boasting an almost unheard-of collection of championships from promotions around the world. At one point, she held 13 titles simultaneously, reinforcing her “CEO” persona and global dominance. That number has since dropped to nine, with several notable losses contributing to the downturn.

Her slide began overseas with the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship changing hands to Alex Windsor. Shortly after, Moné lost the ROH Women’s Television Title back to Red Velvet. The most significant defeat, however, came at the end of 2025, when Nightingale finally ended Moné’s nearly 600-day reign as TBS Champion on AEW Dynamite.
