Why Meghan Markle’s Podcast Is Going on Hiatus

Jessica Mulroney and Ben Mulroney are going their separate ways.

Meghan Markle’s former friend and her husband of over 16 years have broken up, multiple outlets reported July 30.

The couple’s separation comes after Jessica—mom to three children with Ben—began sharing photos to social media sans her wedding ring earlier this summer.

E! News has reached out to reps for Jessica and Ben regarding their breakup but has not yet heard back.

Beyond ditching her wedding ring, Jessica has also shared glimpses into her new chapter as Ben, the son of former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney, last made an appearance on her profile back in March for his 49th birthday. At the time, she gushed alongside a pic of him blowing out candles, “Hope all your wishes come true.”

Jessica and Ben marked their 16th wedding anniversary in October, during which the Canadian stylist joked they had forgotten to celebrate.

“Ok so our wedding anniversary was a slight oversight this year (ie… we forgot),” Jessica joked in November. “But the love all year round makes up for it. Which reminds me, how many years has it been @benmulroney? I feel lucky everyday so what’s a number?”

And while Ben is less active on social media, he’s previously shared heartfelt messages to Jessica.

“Nothing and no one gives me more joy or fills me with more pride or stirs in me more passion or embraces me with more love than this woman,” Ben wrote in a 2021 Instagram tribute. “Jessie, you are my everything. It took me a while to get that first date but now that I have you, I am never letting you go.”

For years, Jessica and Ben were close friends of Meghan, who filmed Suits in Toronto, with their three kids playing a big part of the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry’s 2018 wedding.

However, Jessica and Meghan’s friendship is rumored to have frayed around 2020.

At the time, Jessica became embroiled in controversy after another lifestyle influencer accused her of “textbook white privilege.” The 45-year-old subsequently deleted her social media and when she reinstated it, a photo of her and Meghan from the royal wedding had been deleted, prompting rumors about the state of their friendship.

Months later, she spoke out about where the pair stood.

“I’m going to tell this once and for all,” Jessica wrote in an Instagram Story at the time. “Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend.”

Meghan, meanwhile, never addressed their friendship status, though Jessica has been noticeably absent from Meghan’s more recent endeavors, including her latest Netflix series, Love, Meghan, which featured friends like Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer.
