Look away, Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle had an uncomfortable interaction with Balenciaga’s new creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, during her first-ever Paris Fashion Week appearance.
In a TikTok video taken by a fan, Markle, 44, can be seen greeting Piccioli, 58, at the fashion show. As they tried to kiss each other on either cheek, the pair nearly bumped heads and almost kissed.
After the snafu, the duo posed for pictures together and then hugged.
The TikToker who shared the clip captioned the post, “They almost kissed 😭.”
In the comments, fans reacted to Markle and Piccioli’s viral exchange.
“That was awkward,” one fan wrote.
“Cringe and awkward as usual,” another fan said.
“She loves herself,” a third comment read.
Someone else wrote, “Now that was awkward 😂😂.”
“She kicked is sunglasses 😂😂😂 so uncomfortable,” a different TikToker commented.
Another person called the interaction a “disaster.”
Markle attended the Balenciaga show in a white oversized cape over a matching button-down shirt. She also rocked black pointed-toe heels and styled her brunette hair in a slicked-back bun.
“Over the years, the Duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage,” the spokesperson for Markle told People of her appearance at the fashion event.
“She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different,” the spokesperson added. “This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”
While Markle was never at Paris Fashion Week before this weekend, she did go to Toronto Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week during the years she was on “Suits,” attending multiple shows between 2013 and 2015.
During her trip to Paris, Markle sparked backlash for filming a video near the site of Harry’s mom Princess Diana’s fatal car crash.
In the clip, Markle recorded two bridges not far from the crash scene through the window of her limo, before she turned the camera to show her putting her feet up.
Along with major social media backlash, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Daily Mail that Markle’s video was “utterly bewildering,” “beyond stupid” and “insensitive beyond belief.”
