Meet USA's World Cup soccer team: Inside the USMNT roster for 2026, from Christian Pulisic to Gio Reyna

1 hour ago 3

The 2026 World Cup is finally here, and that means the U.S. will have another shot at redeeming past misfortunes at the tournament.

With stars Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and Sergino Dest all aged 27 heading into this year's tournament, the USMNT's core should be at its best with that trio running the show. Along with that trio, Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi, and Gio Reyna will provide a youthful look at what the team's future will look like when the 27-year-olds further age.

While they do headline the group, many people who are not too familiar with the United States' national team are wondering who else made manager Mauricio Pochettino's final 26-player roster.

Here's the rundown on who Team USA will march out onto the field during this year's World Cup.

Folarin Balogun, F

  • Age: 24
  • Club: AS Monaco
  • Caps: 27

Headlining the United States' attack will be Balogun. The 24-year-old has progressed nicely in his career thus far and was even Monaco's leading scorer this year in Ligue 1 with 19 goals. Now, the youngster will play in his first World Cup this summer. In 27 appearances with the USMNT, Balogun has scored nine times.

Ricardo Pepi, F

  • Age: 23
  • Club: PSV Eindhoven
  • Caps: 37

Right up there with Balogun is Pepi. He too finished with 19 goals in Europe this season while playing for Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. He is the most experienced of the USMNT's forwards, so expect heavy minutes for him during the tournament. Through 37 caps for Team USA, Pepi has accumulated 13 goals.

Haji Wright, F

  • Age: 28
  • Club: Coventry City
  • Caps: 20

While he doesn't have the name value that Balogun or Pepi do, his 2025-26 season in England shows why Pochettino included him in this year's World Cup squad. The Coventry City forward finished the year with 18 goals and two assists across 43 matches in all competitions. In 20 games with the United States, Wright has put seven balls in the back of the net.

Tyler Adams of USMNT

Getty Images

Tyler Adams, M

  • Age: 27
  • Club: AFC Bournemouth
  • Caps: 54

The 2022 World Cup captain has proved time and time again how important his level of play is in determining Team USA's success on the grand stage. The midfielder played well in the latest friendly against Germany, and he has the ability to stop most players put in front of him. He isn't going to jump out on the scoresheet, but he is a presence player. Adams has scored twice in his 54 appearances with the USMNT.

Brenden Aaronson, M

  • Age: 25
  • Club: Leeds United
  • Caps: 58

While only 25 years old, Aaronson has already eclipsed the 50-cap mark for the U.S. national team. He is labeled as a midfielder in Pochettino's roster, but he can be utilized as a winger if need be. In 58 caps for Team USA, Aaronson has brought nine goals to the table.

Sebastian Berhalter, M

  • Age: 25
  • Club: Vancouver Whitecaps FC
  • Caps: 13

The son of former USMNT manager Gregg Berhalter, Sebastian has had a nice year in the MLS so far. This season, he has contributed 11 G/A across 18 games and has shown his prowess on setpieces. Through 13 national team appearances, Berhalter has scored once.

Weston McKennie of USA

Getty Images

Weston McKennie, M

  • Age: 27
  • Club: Juventus FC
  • Caps: 66

McKennie is one of the bigger names on this U.S. roster, and there's a reason why. Along with playing for Juventus in Italy's Serie A for six seasons, the midfielder is another integral piece in determining how far the U.S. can go in front of their home crowd this summer. In 66 caps, McKennie has tallied 12 goals thus far.

Christian Pulisic, M

  • Age: 27
  • Club: AC Milan
  • Caps: 86

At the pinnacle of U.S. men's soccer stands Captain America. Pulisic will eclipse the 11-year mark as a part of a European club team in July. With being a big name comes massive accountability. The Hershey, Pa., native has shown he can be a top-caliber player at times at the club level, but as a considered American star, he needs to provide a bit more for his country's national team when it matters most. Along with having the most caps on the USMNT at the time of the tournament, Pulisic is the leading scorer with 33 goals.

Cristian Roldan, M

  • Age: 31
  • Club: Seattle Sounders FC
  • Caps: 47

Roldan's role, if he is able to step on the pitch during the tournament, will be in the central midfield role. He doesn't score much, so his contributions have to come by controlling and defending opponents who come at him. Roldan has yet to score across his 47 caps with the U.S. national team.

Gio Reyna of USA

Gio Reyna, M

  • Age: 23
  • Club: Borussia Monchengladbach
  • Caps: 38

Another U.S. national who has been highly touted, Reyna's honeymoon phase as a member of the USMNT has come to an end. He is only 23, but fans have already begun questioning whether what he has given for the country thus far has warranted the hype. This will be a massive tournament for Reyna, and with Berhalter gone, the minimal playing time excuses for Reyna are gone. In 38 games with Team USA, Reyna has accumulated nine goals.

Malik Tillman, M

  • Age: 24
  • Club: Bayer 04 Leverkusen
  • Caps: 30

In Germany, Tillman's career has progressed nicely. The 24-year-old has started half the games for Leverkusen this season, and he has put forth six goals in those 29 appearances. Tillman has scored three times across his 30 caps with the national team.

Timothy Weah, M

  • Age: 26
  • Club: Olympique Marseille
  • Caps: 51

Weah was another former U.S. prospect who arrived on the team with a sizeable amount of hype. While it wasn't the reception Pulisic and Reyna have gotten, fans can still count on the midfielder to provide if Pochettino gives him significant time this summer. Weah has seven goals across 51 caps with the USMNT.

Alejandro Zendejas, M

  • Age: 28
  • Club: CF America
  • Caps: 14

With the second-fewest amount of caps in this American midfield, it's unlikely Zendejas will step foot onto the pitch this summer. He is also the second-oldest person in the midfield section of this team, so there are more youthful and better options who can put on the stripes this tournament. Zendejas has scored twice in 14 games with the U.S.

MORE WORLD CUP NEWS:

Max Arfsten, D

  • Age: 25
  • Club: Columbus Crew
  • Caps: 20

Arfstein, like the next name on this list, is really a winger that Pochettino has listed on the team's defensive committee. He is unlikely to see much playing time with how many names are in front of him, but he may appear as a substitute later in matches. Arfsten has scored one goal across 20 caps with Team USA.

Sergino Dest of USA

Sergino Dest, D

  • Age: 25
  • Club: PSV Eindhoven
  • Caps: 39

While he is listed as a part of the team's defense, Dest thrives in a wingback role with an emphasis on wing. The PSV Eindhoven player's best way to contribute to a team is by blazing down the wing to set crosses into the box. He is nearing the 10-year mark of playing European soccer, so the potential is still there, and he is still only 25. Through his 39 caps with Team USA, Dest has scored three goals.

Alex Freeman, D

  • Age: 21
  • Club: Villareal CF
  • Caps: 17

Freeman is the youngest player by two years on this roster, so it's expected that he may not see ample amounts of playing time on the grand stage. He does play in Spain's La Liga, so he has been in the building while Villareal takes on some of the world's best players. In 17 matches with the USMNT, Freeman has tallied two goals.

Mark McKenzie, D

  • Age: 27
  • Club: FC Toulouse
  • Caps: 29

The Ligue 1 centerback has emerged from 2025 USMNT friendlies with the confidence from Pochettino. In November, he wore the armband when the Stars and Stripes took on Uruguay. McKenzie has yet to score across his 29 appearances on the national team.

Tim Ream, D

  • Age: 38
  • Club: Charlotte FC
  • Caps: 82

As the oldest player of the squad and the team's captain, Pochettino is relying on Ream to lead this team on the pitch. The defender is second only to Pulisic in total caps for Team USA, and he is a cornerstone on the defense. Ream has scored once through 82 caps with the U.S. team.

Chris Richards and Mauricio Pochettino of USA

Chris Richards, D

  • Age: 26
  • Club: Crystal Palace
  • Caps: 36

Many fans have seen the vision of the defender's success in England, and he will be a massive part in holding down the American fort this summer. At 26 years old, Richards still should have enough in the tank to play one more World Cup if the U.S. qualifies for the next tournament, but fans should count on solid performances for the Crystal Palace defender. Richards has scored three times across his 36 caps with Team USA.

Antonee Robinson, D

  • Age: 28
  • Club: Fulham FC
  • Caps: 54

Perhaps the most underrated player on this roster, fans can expect big things from Robinson. The defender scored an absolute screamer from outside the box on a corner kick in the latest friendly against Germany, and his nickname of "Jedi" can make him a fan-favorite this summer. Robinson has put forth five goals in 54 matches with the United States.

Miles Robinson, D

  • Age: 29
  • Club: FC Cincinnati
  • Caps: 40

The 29-year-old is far from the biggest name on this team, and he may not see much playing time with younger and better options available for Pochettino to choose from. Robinson has scored three times through 40 caps with the USMNT.

Joe Scally, D

  • Age: 23
  • Club: Borussia Monchengladbach
  • Caps: 26

As a defender, Scally showed this season for Monchengladbach that he can put goal contributions on the scoresheet. He had 5 G/A for the German side this season, but Scally has yet to score for the United States across 26 international caps.

USMNT defender Auston Trusty

Imagn Images

Auston Trusty, D

  • Age: 27
  • Club: Celtic FC
  • Caps: 8

Trusty is another name that has not garnered much attention heading into this summer's World Cup. Unless injuries present itself for the Americans, he will most likely not see much time on the pitch. Trusty is still vying for his first goal through eight games with the U.S.

Chris Brady, G

  • Age: 22
  • Club: Chicago Fire FC
  • Caps: 1

At 22 years old, Brady will likely be on the bench for the duration of this year's World Cup. Perhaps opportunity may present itself sometime in the future, but for now, Brady should be taking notes on what to do, or not to do, when up against some of the world's best competition.

Matt Freese, G

  • Age: 27
  • Club: NYC FC
  • Caps: 15

As the middle of the three ages in this goalkeeper room, Freese will likely be called to put on the gloves for this U.S. national team. The USMNT goalkeeper position isn't what it used to be since Tim Howard retired, but maybe Freese can change that if he puts forth a nice showing this summer in front of the U.S. faithful.

Matt Turner, G

  • Age: 31
  • Club: New England Revolution
  • Caps: 54

While he did play for Arsenal in recent times, Turner has since lost the USMNT starting job despite his competition not being that stellar. He does have by far the most caps in that goalkeeper room, but Pochettino will most likely march Freese out during the tournament.
