Anybody who knows Detroit Lions football knows that fans of this team have salivated over the idea of Maxx Crosby going to the Lions for a long time. Crosby is a Michigan native, and he has the aggressive playing style that would just fit with Detroit. It seems like a full-circle moment to have Crosby back in his home state, but it's never come to that.
Not everybody is giving up on the Crosby-to-the-Lions dream, though. One NFL analyst and expert believes there's still hope that he'll somehow, someway end up in Detroit.
In a piece released on Wednesday, Oct. 21, before the NFL's Week 7 slate of games, Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports names five players he'd "like to see get a change of scenery." These are players he thinks would do well if they were traded before the November deadline.
Maxx Crosby trade: Going to the Detroit Lions could give the team's defense a major boost
One of those players is Crosby. He has the star defensive end linked to both the Lions and Chicago Bears. It's Crosby's aggression that would really make him a good fit with Detroit.
"Crosby is one of the most aggressive and well-rounded pass rushers in the NFL," Dajani notes. "Not only does he get after quarterbacks, having recorded four double-digit sack seasons, including in 2025, but he plays a high percentage of defensive snaps each year and is effective against the run as well."
According to Dajani's research, no other player has notched more tackles for loss, at 135, since Crosby was drafted back in 2019 in the fourth round. He was quite a deal at the time.
Detroit obviously needs to improve its defense. It's that half of the team that's holding the Lions back, with their offense on fire. Trading for Crosby would be one way to do it.
