Reigning world champion Max Verstappen has slammed a fan following the latter's verdict of wet races being 'boring' in Formula 1. In line with this, Verstappen has come up with a five-word, extremely crisp response.

Max Verstappen has been making his trade in the pinnacle of motorsport since 2015. He has, over the years, competed in several wet races and is exceptionally good at them. One does not have to look very far back to understand the level of Verstappen's potency during wet races.

In 2024, during an extremely wet Brazilian Grand Prix, Verstappen won the race despite starting from way down in P17. He overtook cars one by one under challenging conditions, and at the end of it all, managed to come away with a victory by a margin of over 19 seconds.

He recently sat for an interaction where he was shown fans' opinions on certain things, and during this time, one of the fans' opinions just didn't sit well with him. A particular fan suggested:

"Wet races are boring, cars are slow, and there is no racing. The only entertainment is driver mistakes."

Seeing this suggestion, Verstappen strongly defended wet races and added:

"Sir/Mam, you are an idiot (laughs)." (Via: Instagram Threads).

Wet races are known for providing extremely exciting on-track action, and somewhat levelling the playing field among the top/mid-level teams. In 2024, when Verstappen won the Brazilian Grand Prix, he was joined on the podium by Alpine's Pierre Gasly and then-driver Esteban Ocon (currently Haas).

While Max Verstappen has bashed a particular suggestion from a fan regarding wet races, he is hanging by a thread in the ongoing 2025 F1 championship tussle. With only three races remaining, Verstappen (P3) is currently 49 points behind the leader, Lando Norris.

Following the end of Round 21, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff was asked to give his take on the championship tussle, and in line with this, he made it clear that the championship is out of the reach of Verstappen.

"How many points is Max behind? [49 off Lando, and 25 off Piastri] Okay, that ship has sailed. I think just let them race, make no contact. But the gap that Lando has now is, I mean, it's very, very solid, but they can't afford the DNF either. Because then it swings in the other direction. Obviously, from a spectator standpoint, you would want to see that not going into the last race equal points or similar points." (Via: GP Blog).

Max Verstappen needs to score maximum points in the upcoming Sunday's 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix to have any chance of being in the championship fight until the last round (24), the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
