Max Fried made Yankees history after another dominant outing against Mets

The New York Yankees have a Cy Young Award candidate leading the starting rotation.

Despite the absence of Gerrit Cole, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, the offseason addition of Max Fried is proving to be a fantastic move.

Signing a $218 million deal this winter, Fried has been better than expected through his first 10 starts in a Yankees uniform.

In fact, he made some franchise history following another dominant outing Sunday night against the New York Mets.

In the 8-2 win, Fried tossed 6.0 innings, allowing two runs, two walks and three hits while striking out eight on 102 pitches.

Fried became the first pitcher in Yankees history to allow two or fewer earned runs in each of his first 10 starts of a season.

The Yankees have a respectable 3.65 ERA from the starting rotation, which ranks ninth in Major League Baseball. It's pretty impressive considering the injuries that have hit the group of starters, including Cole and Luis Gil.

Fried has been the main contributor, though. The southpaw is currently 6-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 62.2 innings across 10 starts.

It's still early in the season, but the addition of Fried is already paying dividends.
