Dallas Mavericks star guard Kyrie Irving has been on the front page of the NBA news for many reasons, both right and wrong throughout his NBA career.
However, back in 2017, while the former No. 1 overall draft pick was still with the Cleveland Cavaliers, one reporter asked the star guard if fellow Cavs star LeBron James was like a "father figure" to him, which caused confusion from Irving and a hilarious moment for the NBA, quickly going viral.
As the former Duke Blue Devil rehabs a torn ACL suffered earlier this year, he has been heavy on the live content during the offseason, recently embarking on a 24-hour livestream from the NBA Summer League on the streaming service Twitch.
The stream was full of events, including Irving receiving a phone call from former teammate Luka Doncic and also Irving recreating the viral moment from 2017, except he gave a legitimate response to the eight-year-old question.
"I only have one father, Drederick Irving," said Irving. "I'm glad we got to recreate that meme, bro, because that question was crazy. When somebody asked me if LeBron was like a father figure to me, that was a crazy ass question. He's, like, a few years older than me, I got my father right here, Drederick Irving. No disrespect, bro."
Though a rocky relationship with the Cavaliers eventually led to Irving requesting a trade and LeBron eventually joining the Los Angeles Lakers, the two have since reconciled and with some tension going on between LeBron and the Lakers currently, the two reuniting in Dallas isn't completely off the table.
