There is plenty of excitement surrounding the Dallas Mavericks as they head into the next season.

The team selected Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 pick of the 2025 NBA Draft, adding to their already stacked roster, and, more importantly, they are likely to get an entirely healthy season from Anthony Davis.

Daivhas missed significant time last season after dealing with several different injuries. Now the Mavs will be getting a healthy version of their star big man heading into 2025-26.

NBA insider Marc Stein reports that Davis has returned to full practice and recently appeared in a 5-on-5 practice while recovering from eye surgery. Davis has undergone surgery to repair a detached retina he suffered during the 2024-25 season.

Steins reports that the time All-Star's latest 5-on-5 session is "believed to be" his first practice at the speed of a typical game since the surgery, per Stein.

Davis is set to be a major contributor to the Mavericks next season. Last season, he averaged 20.0 points per game and 10.1 rebounds on 46% shooting from the field and 23% from behind the arc in a Dallas Mavericks uniform.

He was acquired in the blockbuster trade that sent former Mavericks star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, a move that completely reshaped the future for both franchises.

Now, with Kyrie Irving and emerging rookie Cooper Flagg, alongside him, Davis has a chance to help the Mavericks compete at the top of the Western Conference. When healthy, Davis remains one of the league's premier interior presences and a proven champion who is capable of anchoring the defense and becoming another major offensive threat.
