Maury Povich’s next act may be mediating hip hop beefs!
The former newsman-turned-talk show host appeared on “Sherri” and revealed to host Sherri Shepherd that primetime specials settling rap feuds could be in his future.
And he already has his dream guests in mind.
“I would come out of retirement if I could get Nicki [Minaj] and Cardi B to settle their differences with lie detector tests,” Povich, who famously used the tests on his daytime talk show, said.
The female rappers have had a yearslong beef that, at one point physically came to blows at a fancy New York Fashion Week event in 2018.
Things turned nasty again this year with the duo attacking each other on social media and even hurling insults at their children.
There’s no shortage of beefs in Minaj’s case. The rapper has sparried with SZA, Jay-Z and even Gavin Newsom in recent months.
Megan Thee Stallion even sounded off on their alleged beef last year, telling Billboard, “I don’t even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, don’t know what the problem is.”
Povich also suggested tackling Drake and Kendrick Lamar, another hip hop feud that has rocked the music industry. (Who knew the king of TV paternity tests was so invested in rap battles?)
Povich retired from his show in 2022.
His wife Connie Chung reminded us earlier this year that even though her husband, “has been determining the paternity of every child in America…The fact is, he has a wider vocabulary than, ‘you are the father,’ and ‘you’re not the father,'” she quipped.
Povich’s “Sherri” episode aired on Monday.
