Kelly Stafford Addresses Family's Health Battle After Kids' Hospitalization
Matthew Stafford can always count on his family for a boost.
While the NFL quarterback’s season came to an end Jan. 19 as the Los Angeles Rams lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, he was comforted by his and wife Kelly Stafford’s four kids, including twin daughters Sawyer and Chandler, 7, as well as Hunter, 6, and Tyler, 4.
“Aren't enough words to express how proud I am,” Kelly wrote alongside an Instagram carousel Jan. 20, which included a photo of the girls swarming their dad at the Lincoln Financial field. “I joke about us being old and tired but honestly I could never get tired of watching you out there or watching our girls cheer for their daddy.”
The Morning After podcast host, 35, also made a veiled reference to her husband’s NFL future, hinting at the 36-year-old’s possible retirement from football.
“I'm wondering if this is the end or not,” she teased. “Guess we will find out.”
The final weeks of the Rams’ season were particularly chaotic amid the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires, which caused a number of scheduling changes including the relocation of a Jan. 13 home game against the Minnesota Vikings. In addition to the shift, two of the Staffords’ daughters were battling the flu as the family traveled to Glendale, Ariz., for the match.

“We were sick on that flight,” Kelly shared on the Jan. 15 episode of her podcast. “And there was a huge guilt factor to me going, ‘Should we be on this plane right now?’ Because of everyone surrounding us and everyone who has to play this game.”
Although the family of six traveled together in the end, Kelly admitted it took some persuasion to get her onboard.
“I reached out to multiple people and they were like, ‘Get your ass on that plane. We all need to be together,’” she continued. “There was a little bit of, ‘Should I just stay back with my children?’ And Matthew was like, ‘No, we will do whatever it takes, but we are all getting on this plane. We’re gonna be together right now.’”
