Matthew Stafford makes wrong kind of NFL history with pick-six vs. Broncos

The Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos played a classic on Sunday night, as both offenses came alive at certain points. However, it was a mistake by Matthew Stafford that made the biggest difference late in the game.

Stafford threw a pick-six to Broncos linebacker Talanoa Hufanga, which turned a Rams three-point lead into a Broncos four-point lead.

While Stafford lamented the mistake in the moment, he also set an unfortunate NFL record once Hufanga scored the touchdown. The Rams quarterback is now the all-time leader in most pick-sixes thrown in NFL history, a record that Stafford won't celebrate anytime soon.

Matthew Stafford sets pick-six record

Up three points late in the fourth quarter, Matthew Stafford threw a pick-six that game the Broncos the lead and ignited the crowd. In the process, the Rams quarterback set the NFL's all-time record for most pick-sixes in his career.

Stafford now has 33 interceptions that were returned for touchdowns, passing Brett Favre's 32 for the all-time record. No other quarterback has even hit 30, as Dan Marino's 29 pick-sixes is third on the all-time list.

Stafford is actually in pretty good company, as the entire top-five on this list is full of current Pro Football Hall-of-Famers. Stafford has a chance to get there one day, but for now, he must deal with the fact that he stands alone with this dubious record.
